Graduate Work Readiness Programme Proposal
PROPOSAL:WORKPLACE READINESS PROGRAMME
Employers have long complained that most graduates are not prepared to succeed in their careers. Recent studies have found that between 50 and 78 percent of employers who had job openings did not hire recent graduates simply because they were not prepared for the job. In short, the jobs were ready, but the graduates were not.
The object of this programme is to develop more employable graduates to the labour market as well as to nurture their life-long career path.
This is an intensive 16-hour programme targeted at tertiary institution students. It comprises of core coursework, together with enrichment and teambuilding activities to enhance their problem-solving, critical thinking, and relationship skills.
We utilised the internationally acclaimed Habitudes® Leadership Development Programme material, developed by Growing Leaders in the US, with whom we have a partnership. Habitudes® is utilised in 70 countries, by 8,500 schools, universities, colleges and corporates, and 750,000 young leaders have already been trained with it.
The students receive a bag, folder and about 100 pages of notes. In addition, during the lessons, the students are provided with the book The Art of Preparing for a Career.
