STRETCHING AND BREATHING: Controlled breathing encourages mental alertness, a sense of calmness and allows oxygen to reach the blood stream more readily. With age the muscles of the body have a tendency to shorten. Unless these muscles are stretched regularly, this can lead to poor posture, decreased range of motion, muscle stiffness and other problems. Self-help stretching exercises taught to improve work-desk posture.
